Lukashenka Reshuffles Top Officials Again

Aliaksandr Lukashenka November 16 appointed Valier Vakulchyk the head of the Committee for State Security (KGB).

Previously, Valier Vakulchyk was the chief of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

Valier Vakulchyk was appointed the chief of the Investigative Committee in April, 2011.

Valier Vakulchyk was born on June, 1964 in Brest region, Belarus. He is a graduate of the military college in Kharkiv (1985), the Higher Courses of Counter-Espionage of the KGB USSR (1992) and also Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus (2011).

Valier Vakulchyk, 47, became one of the first Belarusian-born head of a law enforcement agency.

The new chief of the Investigative Committee became Valiancin Shajeu.

Finally, Paval Latushka —the only top official who speaks Belarusian — was dismissed from the position of the Minister of Culture and appointed Belarus’ Ambassador to France and UNESCO.
