YouTube has started asking Belarusians to prove their age.
YouTube is massively requiring users to verify their age by sending a scan of their passport and a selfie, including accounts from Belarus. This is reported by "Code of Durov".
A message requiring confirmation that the user is of legal age appears when opening videos with age restrictions.
To confirm age, YouTube offers to share a scan of an identity document. This could be a passport or driver's license. They also offer to take a selfie. Important clarification: the company uses a contractor to assess age from photos. In addition, the company may assess age by email address.
