Roman survived the Russian missile strike on Vinnytsia on July 14, 2022, in which his mother died. The boy himself underwent 36 operations and lengthy rehabilitation due to severe burns and injuries.
Despite this, he returned to studying, dancing, and music, and also received an award from the President of Ukraine.
On December 10, Roman arrived in Brussels for the film screening to tell his story to MEPs and urge them to "never give up", because "when we are together, we are strong". MEPs were shown the films "Romchyk", "Children for Putin", and "Chili".
