Kim Jong Un welcomed servicemen in Pyongyang who participated in demining in the Kursk region
Kim Jong Un met in Pyongyang with servicemen of the 528th Engineering Regiment of the Korean People's Army who returned home after completing tasks "in the combat zone abroad," reported the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
During the solemn ceremony, Kim Jong Un delivered a speech in which he recalled that the regiment was deployed to Russia in early August and "achieved brilliant results in performing engineering-combat tasks" in the Kursk region. However, during its 120-day mission, the regiment suffered "nine tragic losses," the DPRK leader stated.
"Our engineering regiment, risking their lives during the mission, received neither compensation nor awards, but gained the most precious thing in the world, which nothing can replace. This is the faith and trust of the party, the country, and the people in our army," Kim Jong Un said in his speech.
