Political prisoner scientist Yury Adamau released
He was sentenced to three years in prison for donations.

The release of 49-year-old political prisoner physicist Yury Adamau has become known. According to human rights activists, he was released in late November 2025, having fully served his three-year sentence in a colony in Vitsebsk.
Adamau was arrested in March 2023 and sentenced for "financing the activities of an extremist formation" (Art. 361-2 of the Criminal Code).
Yury Adamau is a member of the Belarusian free software community, as well as a co-creator of the popular science samizdat Pamylka. He studied theoretical physics at BSU, then received a PhD from the University of Warwick (England) in "condensed matter physics". He conducted postdoctoral research in the USA.
