Lukashenka appointed Kanstantsin Bychak as the head of the Investigative Committee.

Bychak was the most media-savvy employee of the KGB, personally flew to Vietnam to arrest Kalinovets Vasily Verameichik. Until the last moment, he worked as the head of the KGB investigation department.

Konstantin Bychak is 40 years old. He was born in Gorodok, Vitebsk region. His father, Fedor Bychak, worked as the head of the financial department in the district executive committee and was a member of the district Council of Deputies in 2014-2018.

Konstantin Bychak is married and has a son and a daughter. His wife Daria worked at the Vitebsk polyclinic and the Minsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital (presumably in administrative positions).

According to Belpol, Bychak had only been abroad three times before 2020: to Ukraine in 2012, and to Russia and Georgia in 2019.

From the databases of the security forces, Bychak's rank in the KGB was known — colonel. In recent years, state media have presented him as the «Deputy Head of the KGB Investigation Department.» However, until 2021, his position was called something else — he was the head of the department of the investigation department.

After the detention of Viktor Babariko and other managers of Belgazprombank in the summer of 2020, Bychak publicly announced the details of the «corruption scheme» between the bank and the Privatlizing company.

Dmitry Gora, who was the head of the IC, has been appointed Prosecutor General in place of Andrei Shved, who will head the Supreme Court.
