The new rule will apply to everyone without exception — tourists, business travelers, and transit passengers.

From January 1, 2026, Georgia is introducing mandatory insurance for all foreign citizens entering the country. This was reported by the Belarusian Embassy in Tbilisi.

The new rule will apply to everyone without exception — tourists, business travelers, and transit passengers. Every foreigner must have a valid medical insurance policy and accident insurance for the entire duration of their stay in the country — from entry to exit.

Insurance can be arranged with both Georgian and foreign companies before the trip. The main condition is that the policy must be valid in Georgia.

The minimum medical coverage must be at least 30,000 lari (approximately 10,000 euros). The insurance must also include emergency medical assistance, evacuation, and repatriation.

The embassy advises keeping the policy in both electronic and paper formats. The document must be issued in English or Georgian.

In the absence of insurance, foreigners may be denied entry — both at airports and at land border crossings.
