Azerbaijan began gas supplies to Germany and Austria
Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR announced the start of natural gas supplies to Germany and Austria.
As reported by the company's press service, supplies started in January 2026 and are carried out as part of the expansion of Azerbaijani gas exports to the European market.
SOCAR called entering the German and Austrian markets "the next important stage" in the development of its export strategy.
This refers to the transportation of fuel through Italy via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), which is the European segment of the Southern Gas Corridor. Thanks to the start of supplies to Germany and Austria, the total number of countries purchasing Azerbaijani gas has reached 16.
In addition to these two states, Azerbaijani gas is already received by Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, and Syria.
