Several batches of illegal cigarettes delivered from Belarus by weather balloons found in Poland
In Poland, several batches of illegal cigarettes delivered from Belarus by air were again found, reported the Podlaskie Border Guard Department.
According to the department's information, part of the cargo was transported using weather balloons, and measures are now being taken to identify the individuals who sent and received these packages.
A few hours after the first report, border guards at the Kuźnica border crossing found another batch of illegal cigarettes. The volume and value of these shipments have not yet been specified.
Previously, on January 9, four batches of contraband delivered from Belarus by air were discovered in Poland: two packages by drones and two by weather balloons. The total value of those cigarettes exceeded 11,000 zlotys (over 3,000 dollars).
In 2025, Polish border guards recorded at least 185 cases of cigarette smuggling using air balloons.
