Man killed mother's dog in Polotsk district
In the village of Farynavo, Polotsk district, a man in a state of alcoholic intoxication brutally killed his mother's dog, the Investigative Committee reports.
On December 16, a girl playing in the yard heard a mournful whimper coming from a trash container. Inside, she found a dog. Through a neighbor's chat, the owner was quickly found – a 70-year-old local resident who took her pet, named Nyura, home.
It turned out that in her absence, her son, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, was in the kitchen. He stepped on the dog, and then, annoyed that the animal was underfoot, brutally beat it and threw it into the trash can.
The owner, who returned home, tried to stop her son, but it was unsuccessful. The man hit the animal again. As a result of the injuries sustained, specifically a ruptured liver from the beatings, the dog died. The elderly woman was forced to contact the police.
A criminal case has been initiated against the 46-year-old man under the article on cruel treatment of animals, which led to its death. The investigation established that the suspect had previously been brought to criminal responsibility for theft, causing grievous bodily harm, and causing death by negligence.
