According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Kyiv counts on a pro-Ukrainian government in Hungary to promote EU membership. Hungary maintains a strict position regarding Ukraine's entry into the European Union.
In November 2025, the country's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó emphasized that under the current national government and Prime Minister Orban, Budapest will not support Ukraine's integration.
