It has become known where a large military training ground will appear in the Gomel region. It is being built in the area of the Yakimovka railway station in the Rechytsa district, and preparatory work is already underway there, writes "Flagshtok".

Confirmation of this information appeared in early 2026 in the public procurement system. The company "Darbudmantazhtrest" announced a tender for felling forest and shrubs, as well as grubbing up stumps, to prepare the territory for the construction of the training ground. The documents indicate that this is already the third stage of work and it concerns engineering and transport infrastructure, including the railway direction near Yakimovka station. There is no information about previous construction stages in open sources.

The fact of forest felling is also confirmed by satellite images: the photos show changes that have occurred in this territory over the last month. Work on clearing the site is planned to be completed by the end of March 2026, for which just over one million rubles has been allocated.

According to the State Investment Program, 15 million rubles are allocated for the construction of the training ground in 2026. The main expenditures are planned for subsequent years: 150 million in 2027, and almost 246 million rubles in 2028.

A military camp is also being built nearby in the area of Pribar village, Gomel district, but the main work there has also been postponed to future years. The first procurements appeared in mid-2025, including a tender for forest felling worth more than 8 million rubles.

Notably, the tender documentation includes a confidentiality agreement: a fine of 100 base units is stipulated for each instance of disclosing project details.

It is currently difficult to accurately estimate the size of the future training ground, but its scale can be judged by the costs of forest felling. For comparison: in 2024, about 1.5 million rubles were allocated for clearing 60 hectares for a military camp near Pribar, while now 16.5 million is allocated for similar work on the training ground.

In addition, the construction of engineering and transport infrastructure is planned, including a road from Yakimovka station to the administrative and training zones. Price proposals are currently being collected.

It is assumed that the purpose of the training ground is related to the strengthening of the southern direction after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Earlier it was reported that a new 37th separate Guards airborne assault brigade is planned to be deployed in the Gomel region, and the construction of the training ground is likely part of these plans.
