NATO plans to create an automated defense zone with robots and drones on the border with Russia and Belarus
Within two years, NATO plans to equip its borders with Russia and Belarus with an automated defense system that includes robots, numerous sensors, and drones. A large amount of equipment and armaments will also be deployed to the border. NATO Land Command Deputy Chief of Staff General Thomas Løvås told journalists from the newspaper Welt am Sonntag about these plans, Bild writes .

«We will see significantly larger stocks of weapons than before in NATO states bordering Russia,» General Løvås stated.
According to him, NATO plans to primarily rely on technology and a future "complex, multi-layered defense system" along the borders with Russia and Belarus. The so-called "automated zone" will be equipped in such a way that in the first phase, robotic weapons will deter the enemy, and the opponent "will first have to overcome it."
The purpose of the concept is to save soldiers: according to Løvås, this zone will be largely unpopulated.
General Løvås' statements are the first public announcement of NATO's new defense concept called the Eastern Flank Deterrence Line (EDFL). According to information from Welt am Sonntag, it is planned to be implemented by the end of 2027.
