House owner suspected a theft after seeing rearranged slippers
At the end of November last year, the Narovlya District Department of Internal Affairs received a report about property theft in the agro-town of Kirov.
The owners had changed their place of residence and had not appeared at their previous address for about two months.
When they came to check their house, in addition to some missing items, they noticed shoes that were out of place.
Knitted gloves, shoe prints, handprints, and a cigarette butt were taken from the crime scene.
Odor traces were confiscated from the half-boots belonging to the head of the family.
Police officers detained a local resident on suspicion of committing the crime. The thief (the man had previously been repeatedly convicted of property crimes) denied his guilt. But the examination showed the opposite. Experts established a match between the odor trace from the crime scene and the suspect.
