Ukraine should show amenability sooner in peace settlement negotiations, US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.

"For now, Ukraine better sit down at the negotiating table sooner. That's all I'm going to tell you. We are in a position where we want them to sit down [at the negotiating table]," Trump said, answering a question about his expectations from the upcoming round of talks in Geneva.

The meetings will take place on February 17-18.

The head of the Russian delegation became presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who led Moscow's negotiating team at meetings in Istanbul in 2022 and 2025. The Kremlin explained Medinsky's participation by stating that a wider range of topics, including territories, will be discussed at the Geneva talks than at previous rounds in Abu Dhabi.

The Ukrainian delegation is headed by the chief of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov.

Yesterday, publishing a photo from the road to Geneva, he wrote that on the way he would discuss history lessons with colleagues and look for the right conclusions.

"The interests of Ukraine must be protected," Kyrylo Budanov wrote.
