«It doesn't matter whether we're talking about Kyiv or Valdai». Budanov spoke against strikes on «political centers»

«It doesn't matter whether we are talking about Kyiv or, conditionally, Valdai. Especially now, when a difficult process of peace negotiations is underway», — said Budanov in a comment to RBC-Ukraine. He currently heads the President's Office, and until January was the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to Budanov, even despite the «unjust» and «aggressive» war, the parties must adhere to certain principles. «Only in this way will we be able to bring about the long-awaited stable peace», he added.
In late December 2025, the Kremlin stated that Ukraine allegedly tried to attack Putin's residence in Valdai with drones, and in this regard, Moscow intends to «reconsider its position» in peace negotiations.
