USA attacked Khark Island in the Persian Gulf. 90% of Iranian oil exports pass through it
The US Central Command carried out one of the most powerful bombings in the history of the Middle East and completely destroyed all military facilities on the Iranian island of Khark in the Persian Gulf, Donald Trump announced.
"Our weapons are the most powerful and advanced of all armaments in the world, but for reasons of decency, I decided not to destroy the oil infrastructure on the island. However, if Iran or anyone else tries to obstruct the free and safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.
The American leader also published a minute-long video with footage of strikes on Khark Island.
The targets of the strikes on Khark Island were warehouses containing Iranian missile and naval mine stockpiles.
A high-ranking official from Iran's Oil Ministry described the strikes on Khark Island as "massive and devastating."
Khark Island houses the Islamic Republic's largest oil terminal. More than 90% of Iranian oil exports pass through it.
Throughout two weeks of the war, Khark Island remained untouched. Analysts stated that any attempt to attack or seize Khark Island could provoke a sustained rise in already high oil prices.
