At Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which serves the German capital and surrounding regions, all flights on March 18 will be cancelled . The reason is a strike announced by the Verdi trade union.

The airport management has asked passengers to contact their airlines or tour operators to inquire about rebooking tickets or other travel options.
The strike takes place amidst a conflict between the trade union and public sector employers over wage issues. Verdi representatives stated that the employers' offer during the second round of negotiations was deemed unacceptable.
Earlier in February, a strike by pilots of the German airline Lufthansa already led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights before the Munich Security Conference. Last week, pilots of the same airline also held a two-day strike over disputes regarding pension contributions.
