"After long reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran did not pose an immediate threat to our country, and it is clear that we started this war under pressure from Israel and its influential American lobby," Joe Kent wrote.
He sent his resignation statement to the US President.
The National Counterterrorism Center is a structure that deals with the analysis and coordination of counterterrorism efforts between various American agencies. It is part of the national intelligence system and reports to its head. The center was established in 2004 to improve coordination among American intelligence agencies after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
