Young Couple Held Wedding at Home in Zhitkovichi
In Zhitkovichi, Alena and Yevgeny registered their marriage right at their home: circumstances forced them to abandon the usual ceremony at the registry office (ZAGS), writes Onliner.by.
This day became especially important for the couple: they not only formalized their status as husband and wife, but also recently became parents for the first time — their daughter Katerina was born.
Initially, Alena planned a traditional wedding, but in winter she suffered a complicated leg fracture. Due to the injury, which required wearing a cast, the couple did not manage to get married before the child's birth. As a result, the marriage was registered three days after being discharged from the maternity hospital.
Despite the home format, the ceremony proceeded with all traditions observed: with a solemn speech, exchange of rings, and guests' congratulations. Registry office staff helped organize the process and presented the newlyweds with commemorative document covers.
Now, Alena's husband and parents help her cope with household chores.
As specialists note, marriage registration at home in Belarus is possible, but only if there are valid reasons confirmed by documents: for example, due to illness or limited mobility. The decision is made by the registry office at the place of residence, and the procedure itself is paid for by both the standard state duty and an additional service fee.
