The incident occurred in the city of Capão da Canoa in the south of the country, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Everything happened on a tourist street located near the local airfield.
The light aircraft Piper JetPROP DLX hit a pole during takeoff, flew several meters, and crashed directly into the cafe building, which, fortunately, was empty at the time.
On board the plane were the pilot, a married couple, and another man — all of whom died. After the crash, the flames quickly spread to neighboring buildings. Local rescuers fought the fire for several hours.
The circumstances and causes of the accident are being investigated.
