Why even young people shouldn't run after a departing bus
Spring is a time of sharp changes in life rhythm. City dwellers begin to quicken their pace more often to catch transport, and cottagers open the season of "storming" garden beds. However, an expert warns: for an unprepared body, such sprints are real stress.
Sudden running after transport becomes a serious stress for an unprepared body, especially for the heart, which is not ready for a sharp increase in load, says Alena Vanda, senior lecturer at the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine of the Belarusian State Medical University.
Attempting to catch transport is an extreme load on the heart. The specialist compares such sudden running to a bucket of ice water. Modern man no longer hunts mammoths; his blood vessels and muscles are accustomed to calm. A sharp jump in activity without a warm-up can provoke a vascular catastrophe, especially after winter "hibernation."
The expert emphasizes that the modern lifestyle does not involve regular intensive loads, as it was in ancient times. Therefore, for most people, sudden physical efforts become a significant test.
The heart is capable of working intensely, but only on condition of a smooth increase in load. Sharp efforts without preparation can negatively affect well-being, so it is important to exercise moderation and gradually return to spring activity.
