At the same time, it was abnormally warm.

"March 2026 became record-warm and abnormally dry. The average air temperature across Belarus was +5.8 °C, which is 5 degrees higher than the climatic norm. An elevated temperature regime was maintained in all decades of March. The transition of the average daily air temperature across 0°C towards an increase (the beginning of climatic spring) occurred 1-2 weeks earlier than usual — already in the third decade of February," Belhydromet told BelTA.

During the first spring month of the year, 3.8 mm of precipitation fell, which constituted 10% of the climatic norm. Absolute monthly precipitation minimums were updated at all observation points in the east of the country.

In most of Belarus, less than 15% of the climatic norm of precipitation fell, and no precipitation was observed at the Zhlobin and Slaŭharad stations during the month. In all decades of the month, its quantity remained extremely low.
