Half of the top 10 largest EV manufacturers are Chinese
The largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world is Chinese BYD. From August 2024 to August 2025, the company produced 2.56 million vehicles, significantly outperforming all competitors, writes Thinktanks.pro.

According to analytical company SNE Research, Chinese Geely took second place with 1.31 million vehicles, while American Tesla only ranked third with 985,000 electric vehicles.
The ranking also includes:
- German Volkswagen (854 thousand);
- Chinese SAIC (720 thousand);
- Chinese Changan (563 thousand);
- Korean Hyundai (416 thousand);
- Chinese Chery (395 thousand);
- German BMW (389 thousand);
- Dutch Stellantis (342 thousand).
Thus, five companies in the top 10 represent China. This shows how quickly the country has strengthened its position in the global electric vehicle race.
