Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that security issues dictate the need for appropriate measures. He believes that internet work restrictions are not a path to the past, and most Russians supposedly view this with understanding.
"No, this is not a path to the past. Currently, it's a situation where security considerations dictate the need for such measures. These measures are being taken, and most fellow citizens understand their expediency and necessity," Peskov said.
According to him, the restrictions cause inconvenience, but "now is such a period." After the threats disappear, the need for security measures will also disappear, and everything will be "restored and normalized." He did not name any specific deadlines for the end of this "such period."
