A guy put up four thousand ads in Minsk saying he was looking for a girlfriend. What came of it?
In early April, people all over Minsk began to notice many identical ads. And not the most common ones for our time.
They feature a photo of 19-year-old Lyosha and text stating that he is looking for a girlfriend. How he decided on such an idea and what came of it, writes Onliner.by.
Lyosha printed about 4000 flyers for dating. A team of 13 people helped the guy put them up. They worked for about a week.
— News about this got into various public groups, people started writing to me in private messages and on social networks.
In just two weeks, approximately 400 people responded, — Lyosha smiles.
But he only went on dates with three girls. Why is that? Here Lyosha admits that the search for love was not the only goal of his daring act.
— I wanted to create some kind of movement, to see what would come of it. Trying to find a girlfriend using paper ads is a very original, but completely unprofitable way to meet people. It would probably be easier to just approach someone you like on the street — that would likely be more effective.
It turns out that Lyosha has his own YouTube blog, with 97 thousand subscribers. The guy conducts various challenges — for example, he comes to a date accompanied by his mom or puts on ankle weights and lives with them for 50 days — and films videos about it. The videos gain hundreds of thousands of views.
So, finding a girlfriend through ads is also a kind of experiment for Lyosha as a blogger. By the way, a year ago he already conducted a similar, but less massive, experiment and also filmed content about it. However, the guy emphasizes: there is still a romantic component to this endeavor.
— The meaning of these ads was broader than just finding a girlfriend. My friends and I rallied together during this time and made our contribution to the history of Minsk. People looked at these flyers, smiled, forwarded them to each other… they received positive emotions. That's cool!
And yes, the one who eventually stole Lyosha's heart turned out to be one of his assistants in putting up the ads. He promised to tell more about this on his YouTube channel.
