A weak magnetic storm has begun on Earth, caused by a stream of fast solar wind from a so-called coronal hole on the Sun.

According to scientists, the level of geomagnetic fluctuations is currently rated as G1 — this is the lowest degree on a five-point scale. However, in the coming days, the storm may slightly intensify to a G2 level. Overall, the unstable situation in Earth's magnetic field may persist for about five to seven days.

Specialists note that during this period, aurora borealis may be possible. The best conditions for observing them are in the northern and northwestern regions. Such phenomena occur when charged particles of the solar wind interact with the magnetosphere and the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere.

However, the situation can change rapidly: geomagnetic activity indicators are tracked in real-time, and the actual state may differ from forecasts throughout the day.
