Amidst the absence of any official information, a version has emerged among Catholic believers in Belarus regarding what might have been the probable reason for the arrest of priest Anatol Parakhnevich in the Vileyka district, writes Katolik.life.

Anatol Parakhnevich

Comparing some facts that believers learned, they concluded that Father Anatol Parakhnevich might have been accused of assisting in preserving the memory of Polish citizens who died in previous years on the territory of modern Belarus.

Believers cannot yet say what exactly is being referred to, so that this information, perhaps, would not be used against the priest and his good deeds.

It is also known to believers that Father Anatol Parakhnevich openly spoke out against Russia's attack on Ukraine, condemned the war, and called for peace and repentance. His words on this matter, timed to the beginning of Lent in 2022, Ash Wednesday, which fell on the first days of the war, have been preserved on one of the pages:

«We sprinkle ashes on our heads, asking God for forgiveness… God is merciful, He will forgive… But will our own conscience forgive us?»

Father Anatol Parakhnevich has been an orphan since childhood. He was born in a village in the Zhlobin district and raised in an orphanage. Since he has no relatives or close ones, it is very difficult to find out about his situation.
