A bear has been robbing a beekeeper near Shumilina for a week
A bear has been frequently visiting the village of Starynavichy, Shumilina district. For a week, it has been terrorizing the local beekeeper, systematically destroying beehives in the apiary, STB reported.
Owner Vasil Vinakurau has already lost 9 out of 30 bee colonies.
«It destroyed this colony in literally 30 minutes. You see, the bees that are left and gathered in a clump, they don't know what to do. Most likely, they will perish,» says the beekeeper.
The beehives are literally in splinters. The honeycombs can be repaired, but, the villager laments, one still needs to buy bee colonies — these are significant investments.
