The company Lidskae Piva wrote on social media that they were recently asked: why beer in Belarus is bottled in plastic bottles, while in Europe it's more commonly in glass and cans.
«In fact, there are a number of reasons. Both economic, environmental, and legislative. But here's what's interesting. One of the reasons is the culture of consumption. In Belarus, beer is more often drunk at home, at the dacha (country house), or while fishing. Not in bars. Therefore, plastic is cheaper and more convenient,» the company explained.
It added that recently in Belarus, more attention is being paid to both ecology and consumption culture.
«And more and more often, Belarusians are choosing drinks in glass and cans. So, over time, it may happen that plastic will become a rarity here too,» Lidskae Piva noted.
