One airline has introduced sleeping berths on its planes
Air New Zealand will start offering economy class passengers special sleeping berths in the form of bunk beds on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This service will be available for booking from May 18, with the first flights appearing in November, Reuters writes .

The aircraft will feature six individual sleep pods. Each will include a mattress, bedding, a privacy curtain, a seat belt, a reading lamp, charging outlets, and a small amenity kit. After each use, the crew will change pillows, sheets, and blankets.
The new beds will first appear on the very long 17-hour flight between New York and Auckland, New Zealand. A sleeping berth can be used for 4 hours, and the cost will be 495 dollars.
The company noted that this duration was chosen deliberately: it is enough time for a person to relax, fall asleep, and rest during the flight.
Air New Zealand previously offered another convenience — the Sky Couch, where three economy class seats can be transformed into a flat surface for rest. Now, the airline is taking another step to make long-haul flights more comfortable.
