Trump wants to make Venezuela the 51st US state
US President Donald Trump stated in a phone conversation with Fox News journalist John Roberts that he is seriously considering the possibility of transforming Venezuela into the 51st state of America. Roberts reported this on social media platform X.

"Just spoke on the phone with Donald Trump. He told me that he is seriously considering making Venezuela the 51st state," John Roberts wrote.
Trump had hinted at the possibility of Venezuela's annexation before. On March 17, 2026, congratulating the Venezuelan team on their victory in the World Baseball Classic semifinals, he wrote on Truth Social:
"They look truly amazing. Good things are happening with Venezuela! I wonder where this magic comes from? What about the 51st state?"
Before that, he had repeatedly spoken about the need to turn Canada and Danish Greenland into the 51st US state.
