State Commission Established to Rewrite Humanities Textbooks
A state commission is being established in Belarus for the preparation of textbooks and teaching aids in the humanities and social sciences. The corresponding decree was signed by Alexander Lukashenka.

It is reported that the new commission will be headed by Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets. Its composition will include scientists, lecturers, practical school teachers, representatives of state bodies, deputies, and public figures. The detailed personal composition has not yet been disclosed.
The main task of the commission will be "to ensure the progressive updating of textbooks and teaching aids based on unified conceptual approaches to such literature at all levels of education in accordance with state interests."
The Ministry of Education is instructed to organizationally and methodically support the commission's activities, as well as to engage in "improving" the content of textbooks and aids over the next five years.
