The US President left the country's Vice President a letter in case the American leader is "eliminated." Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant to the President, stated this on the Pod Force One podcast, writes the New York Post.

Gorka noted that there are "rules of succession" in case Trump becomes a victim of assassination. According to the White House representative, he has no concerns that a "foreign adversary" would decide to take such a step.

"In the drawer of the Resolute Desk lies a letter addressed to the Vice President in case something happens to him [Trump]. We have protocols, believe me," Gorka said.

Trump has been subjected to assassination attempts several times in recent years. For example, in July 2024, at a rally during the election campaign, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired eight shots, wounding Trump in the ear.

On April 25 of this year, a shooting occurred at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where Trump was present. The event took place at the Washington Hilton, where President Reagan was assassinated 45 years ago. The White House called the incident an assassination attempt on the head of state.
