Belarusian breeds Australian crayfish on his eco-farm
The first shrimp eco-farm in Belarus, located in Lyakhavichy district, has successfully bred its own offspring of Australian crayfish. Its owner, Uladzimir Hatouchyts, told Office Life about it.
In March, Uladzimir Hatouchyts brought over 1,500 juveniles and 15 adult Australian crayfish from Russia. This will increase the attractiveness of the eco-farm for tourists and allow them to refine the process of cultivating species atypical for Belarus, with an eye on the future.
The goal is to breed several types of crustaceans and one or two types of fish, as well as to establish the production of their own feed, to create a self-sufficient production that will not depend on seeding material and feed base.
To breed Australian crayfish, the incubator was expanded, and now holds the first brood – about 1,000 juveniles. The incubation period continues, and the farmer expects a significant increase in offspring in the near future.
Entrepreneur Uladzimir Hatouchyts launched the shrimp eco-farm in early 2025 in Alkhovtsy, Lyakhavichy district, in the building of a former school. For breeding, he brought Rosenberg shrimp from the Astrakhan region.
In August last year, he independently began breeding Belarusian shrimp from eggs obtained in local conditions. And in October last year, the eco-farm started offering excursions.
Upon reaching full production capacity, the farmer expects to receive up to 300 kilograms of live shrimp monthly.
