In early June, several dozen preschoolers were hospitalized in Minsk region with symptoms of an intestinal infection. Later it was found that the poisoning was caused by the same fermented milk product.
— We haven't had such cases, specifically related to the food industry (as was the case with the "Bifidin" drink), for probably about 15 years already, — Inna Karaban, head of the hygiene, epidemiology, and prevention department of the Ministry of Health of Belarus, told STB in an interview.
— As for public catering, yes, periodically 1-2 group diseases related to public catering facilities do occur. Group diseases also arise in educational institutions. These are most often viral infections caused by norovirus, rotavirus, and others. Sometimes there are group diseases related to salmonella, — Inna Karaban added.
