Andrei Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC of Ukraine, wrote in his Telegram channel:
"The Russians saw that Belarusians do not want to support Russia's aggressive rhetoric towards Ukraine, and invented a 'terrorist attack on a bus with Belarusian children in the Bryansk region,' hoping to incite the Belarusian population to support aggressive actions against Ukraine with this information provocation. The provocation itself is worthless and has all the hallmarks of a coordinated operation without any factual evidence. Typical for Russian propagandists."
On June 17, a bus carrying children from the football team of Children and Youth Sports School №2 of the city of Rechytsa was damaged in the Bryansk region. According to Russian authorities, the strike was allegedly carried out by a Ukrainian drone.
As a result of the incident, a woman accompanying the group of children and who was the wife of the team's coach, died. Eight other people, including six children, sustained injuries of varying severity.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine rejected accusations of involvement in this incident. Ukrainian military personnel stated that they did not use drones in the area of the incident in the Bryansk region at the specified time. They also called reports of an alleged Ukrainian attack a provocation.
