Changes regarding the status of stray cats and dogs are being proposed in the country. Details are not yet disclosed, but this is a proposal from hunters, and the changes will be significant.

In Belarus, a large-scale adjustment of hunting rules and game management has begun. The process is led by the Ministry of Forestry. Work on the updated document is planned to be completed by 2027. Currently, about 100 different proposals have been received.

One of the key initiators of the changes is the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen, which has submitted about 20 of its ideas.

Among the most significant [proposals] is to change the status of homeless (stray) dogs and stray cats, said the head of the organization, Igor Shunievich.

Shunievich does not disclose the details of the proposed changes to the rules for hunting dogs and cats, but said that stray dogs often form packs, which harms both wildlife and agriculture.

What Shunievich intends to do with stray dogs and cats is not specified, but, according to him, these will be serious changes to the status of stray animals and the hunting rules.

"The changes can be editorial or more serious," says Shunievich. He classifies the changes regarding the status of stray animals as the latter.
