Now, each international sports federation will independently decide on the admission of Russian athletes and determine the conditions of their participation. The IOC recommendations on this matter are no longer valid.
At the same time, the decision regarding the possible performance of Russian athletes at the Olympic Games under the national flag, anthem, and other state symbols will be made later.
The IOC also provisionally reinstated the Russian Olympic Committee. This means that the issue of holding international competitions on Russian territory will now be decided by individual international federations. The IOC itself will not hold its events in Russia and will not invite Russian government officials to the organization's official events.
The IOC received assurances that the Russian Olympic Committee will not include regional sports organizations from territories under the jurisdiction of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine in its composition.
All Russian athletes returning to international competitions must meet anti-doping requirements and undergo multiple tests before their return.
Two months ago, on May 7, a similar decision was made regarding athletes from Belarus.
