Trump argues that Denmark does not pay enough attention to Greenland's security, and the island is of great strategic importance to the US, as Russian and Chinese ships are actively operating in the region. At the same time, he admitted that his earlier statements about the possibility of forcefully establishing control over Greenland had worsened relations with NATO allies.
During the summit, the American president also criticized alliance partners, stating that they had not provided sufficient support to the US during the military operation against Iran. According to him, he is disappointed with the position of European countries and Canada.
In Ankara, Trump met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He highly praised the role of the Turkish leader and called him a good friend. In addition, the head of the White House announced that the US could consider the possibility of Turkey returning to the F-35 fighter jet production program.
Turkey was excluded from this program in 2019 after its acquisition of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, which raised security concerns for the American side.
