Zelenskyy will also replace Rustem Umerov
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Ihor Klymenko, the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, take the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC). According to him, the corresponding decree on the appointment is already being prepared.

Zelenskyy noted that Klymenko proved himself well during his work in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and effectively responded to various challenges. In his new position, his main task will be to coordinate the work of all structures in the field of security and defense, control over the implementation of NSDC decisions and the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, as well as the development of defense production.
Currently, Rustem Umerov holds the position of NSDC Secretary. It is reported that he is scheduled to have a separate conversation with the President of Ukraine. It is not yet known what new position he might receive in the future.
Previously, the possibility of appointing Ihor Klymenko as Minister of Defense of Ukraine instead of Mykhailo Fedorov was considered. Zelenskyy believed that Klymenko could help resolve problematic issues related to mobilization. However, after protests in support of Fedorov, Klymenko declined the position of head of the Ministry of Defense.
