Larry the Cat on the Doorstep of 10 Downing Street Meets New Master PHOTO FACT
"Politicians come and go, but cats remain," Larry wrote on his Twitter. The Chief Mouser of the British Kingdom has already outlasted six prime ministers; Burnham is the seventh head of government.

Larry, the official cat of the British Prime Ministers' residence at 10 Downing Street, on Monday, July 20, met his seventh Prime Minister since he moved into the residence of the UK head of government 15 years ago.
"Politicians come and go, but cats remain," such a post appeared on Larry's account on social network X, while he awaited the arrival of the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham.
As of Monday, Andy Burnham replaced Keir Starmer as Prime Minister.
While awaiting the new resident of the residence, Larry announced on X that he likes to have breakfast at 9:00 AM, have a late breakfast (brunch) at 10:30 AM, and lunch at noon, and in between, indulge in various treats.
Larry appeared at 10 Downing Street (the residence of the British Prime Minister) in January 2011 and was shown on television. After his presentation at an official briefing, from February 16, 2011, Larry assumed the position of Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office of the UK Government (Mouser to the Cabinet Office). Larry caught his first mouse at Downing Street on April 22.

Larry usually greets visitors to Downing Street with an important air, often ignoring important guests, and trying to pet him is quite a quest.
His predecessor in this role was the cat Sybil, but she died back in 2009.
Larry has outlasted six prime ministers: David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer. David Cameron's premiership was the longest — six years and two months; Larry might not even remember Liz Truss — 50 days in office.
The Burnhams, by the way, have a dog. And that's a problem. For the Burnhams, not Larry.
