Former Italy and Milan footballer Franco Baresi dies

Football World Champion Franco Baresi has died at the age of 67. This was reported by the press service of "Milan".

The causes of death are not reported. According to media reports, he had been battling a serious illness recently.

Baresi defended the colors of "Milan" throughout his entire career — from 1978 to 1997.

With the "Rossoneri", he won a large number of trophies: six Italian championship titles, four national Supercups, and three victories each in the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.

As part of the Italian national team, Baresi won the 1982 World Cup, and secured silver medals at the 1994 World Cup and bronze medals at the 1990 World Cup and Euro 1988.
