The group is led by the well-known Nepali climber Nirmal Purja. Alongside him, citizens of Pakistan, the USA, Oman, and China are participating in the expedition. According to GPS data, the avalanche swept the group approximately one kilometer down the slope. It is presumed that the climbers might have been buried under the snow.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan, along with rescuers and local authorities, is organizing search operations. If the weather improves, helicopters are planned to be used for rescue and search efforts.

The climbers began their ascent on July 29 and planned to reach the summit on July 31. However, on July 30 at noon local time, an avalanche descended from the mountain, after which communication with all ten members of the group was lost.
