Elderly Minsk Woman Died from a Match

An 87-year-old woman, while trying to cook, struck a match, dropped it, and attempted to pick it up, but her clothing caught fire.

Trying to put out the flames, the woman began to remove her clothes, but at that moment, she also sustained burns to her right leg.

The Minsk resident was hospitalized, and three days later she died.

A forensic medical examination has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death, according to the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.

Thermal burns were found on the head, neck, torso, upper and lower limbs, covering an total area of about 20% of the body surface, of which about 18% were deep burns. A thermal burn of the upper respiratory tract was also detected.
