Politician Mikola Statkevich told the German publication Zeit about manifestations of solidarity in current Belarus:
Mikola Statkevich: In today's Belarus, any form of self-organization is dangerous. But the hope is given to me by the gratitude, the hope, the solidarity that people express to me again and again. May I tell you one incident?

Mikola Statkevich: Recently, my wife and I were at "Museums Night" in Minsk. A saxophonist was playing in one of the halls. My wife and I stopped to listen. When the concert ended, we turned around — and suddenly saw a crowd of people behind us. They were clapping. Then we understood that people were applauding not the musician (momentarily loses composure), but us."
