Scammers in Belarus started creating fake Wi-Fi hotspots
Cybercriminals thus intercept personal data and bank details.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned that scammers have started creating fake Wi-Fi hotspots.
"When using a Wi-Fi wireless connection, it is necessary to know that attackers can create fake access points, using similar or identical names of cafes, shopping centers, hotels, and other public places," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
The very fact of connecting to such a network is dangerous: the user can be redirected to a fake website and offered to enter personal data, bank card details, a password, or an SMS code.
If there is a need to connect, it is better to clarify the correct network name with an employee of the establishment where you are.
