A manager from one of the banks turned to the capital's police after being "processed" by phone scammers for a week. The result was catastrophic: the man not only handed over 35 thousand dollars of his personal savings to a courier but also took out loans for 140 thousand rubles.

Initially, the man was scammed using the "Belpochta" (Belarusian Post) scheme, tricking him into revealing an SMS code under the guise of delivering a registered letter.

Then, a fake law enforcement officer told the Minsker about money being transferred from his name to a criminal abroad, which allegedly led to a criminal case being opened.

To prove his innocence, the victim agreed to "undergo a National Bank check." He handed over about 35 thousand dollars in savings to a girl he believed to be a freelance collector. In addition, he took out three loans from different banks totaling 140 thousand rubles and also gave them to the scammers.

When the fraudsters stopped responding, the victim contacted the police.

Police officers detained the courier. She had also been deceived by the fraudsters. The money was not returned; it went further down the criminal chain.
