A 68-year-old woman answered a call from a fake social security department and believed that her pension would be recalculated.

To make it more convincing, the scammers asked her to provide her pension certificate number and confirm the service by naming a code from an SMS, reports 'Minsk Police'.

The elderly Minsk resident followed the instructions, after which she started receiving threats over the phone: unknown individuals informed her that the pensioner would be declared a suspect in a criminal case of cooperation with scammers.

To save her savings from a search, the woman agreed to declare them. But instead of contacting the tax office and filling out a declaration form, the pensioner put her money in a bag and left it in a park under a tree. In this way, she lost almost 9 thousand rubles.
