Earlier, the actor said he wouldn't play Captain Jack Sparrow even for "300 million dollars and a million alpacas."

Johnny Depp may return in the next, sixth, "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, writes Guardian.

Film producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Deadline: "We are talking to Johnny, we are working on the script and, hopefully, we will be able to make it happen."

Depp first appeared as the charismatic Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003, and it became his most recognizable — and profitable — role.

Between 2006 and 2017, four sequels were released, and it was the first franchise to release two films, each earning over a billion dollars. In total, the series grossed over $4.5 billion. The last installment to date, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," was released in 2017.

In recent years, Depp's career has been marred by legal proceedings with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

In 2020, Depp lost a libel lawsuit against The Sun newspaper in the UK, which called him a "wife-beater" — the court deemed this assertion "substantially true." After this, Warner Bros asked him to leave the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, although filming for the third movie had already begun.

In 2022, conversely, Depp won a case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, proving that she defamed him in an article for The Washington Post, where she referred to herself as a "public figure representing victims of domestic abuse."
